The Washington
Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced
there will be no more razor clam digs until Oct 2005.
By the end
of the May 7-8 clam dig most of the available razor clam
were harvested on the Washington coast. Overall the WDFW does
not schedule digs after this time due to clam spawning and growing
little clams.
As usual WDFW
shellfish biologists will keep an eye on their progress, and are
expected to release their assessment report on the next fall
clam dig
in late September. In the mean
time you can check out the WDFW web
site for additional information, or just keep an eye out for
the good news in the fall.
